As any good Harry Potter geek knows, today is Fred and George Weasley's birthday. Of course it is; when ELSE would those two be born but April Fool's Day?
I managed to start the day by getting both of my children; luckily my family has never been salt-in-the-sugar-bowl kind of pranksters. We far prefer the verbal tease to the physical humor. Shows a much higher intellect, of course!
Anyway, we're supposed to go to a hockey game tomorrow; Peter's very excited about the game, Grace is very excited about hanging out with a sitter who has a PS3. So I told Peter that I heard on NPR that the game had been cancelled. Not my best prank, but it was early, and I hadn't finished my coffee yet. He very briefly believed me, then gave me one of those piercing Peter looks, and said (as he's reading the sports page), "Well, I can't quite prove you wrong, because the paper only talks about TODAY'S game". But it was obvious he wasn't buying it, so I confessed.
Grace I just told that the sitter had come down with a fever, and would not be able to stay with her. She bought it, hook, line, and sinker. She was WAY bummed, until I asked her the date and Peter and I chorused, "APRIL FOOLS!!!!!"
Then we all sang a rousing version of Happy Birthday to Fred and George, and I helped G come up with a prank for her friend Claire.
Happy April Fools, everyone!!!!!
