No, not for it's shape (though it is a little silly going through life as an adult with a turned up nose).
I hate my nose because roughly 4 times a year it goes absolutely bonkers and knocks me out for anywhere from a couple of days to a week, depending on how quickly I react.
And, technically, it's not my nose but my sinuses. Yep, I'm prone to sinus infections; I used to get them occasionally, but as I had children they've increased to the point that now I get about 4 a year, sometimes more (I think my high water mark was 5 in a year; last year I only got 3). So far this is my 4th since September.
The truly ugly thing about this current one is that it wasn't preceeded by a cold; I was fine until Sunday night, when I started feeling rundown, then Monday I had a scratchy throat, Tuesday was wiped out, stayed home from work, and felt progessively worse as the day went on. Plus, my mucinex was not working for me. So, Wednesday I went to my doctor.
The last infection I had (in Feb.) took between 6 and 8 weeks to totally get over, and require two go rounds of antibiotics and finally took a Prednisone taper to fully get me well. So, my doc pulled out the big guns this time; she put me straight on Biaxin (which sadly is killing my good gut-flora) AND what I believe is the world's longest Prednisone taper; by my count I'll be on Prednisone for 5 solid weeks. Watch out, world.....
Plus, she wants to do a CT scan when I'm off the prednisone. I told her that Kathy's cats, Jack and Dusty, sniff me everytime I go over there and they've never SAID anything about sinus issues, but she didn't seem impressed. Hmph.
So, yeah, I'm a little ticked at my nose, especially because I've been treating it MUCH better in the past few years. I'm pretty good about keeping up with my allergy meds, I go get carded at the drugstore so that I can give it pseudoephedrine (which, imo, is the only decongestant that really works), and I even wash it out with a nice nasal irrigation pretty much daily. So, WTH? Why is it turning on me?
Grrr.
