Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district has this lovely policy where once a month they have a delayed opening; the schools open 2 hours later than normal. Theoretically it gives the teachers time to plan, go to workshops, have a block of time to meet with their grade-level peers, etc. I'm all in favor of all of that, but I wish they'd dismiss early rather than start early; that way my kids could go on to after-school and I wouldn't have to take time off from work!
Anyway, so I've stayed home 8 times now this year and I typically just work from home. Twice now (once in the fall and then again today) just as I got settled in to work, my power went out! For like 30 minutes!!!
And what's even weirder is that I've only lost power in the past year or so THOSE TWO TIMES!!!
How weird is that???
