Why?

Do some people say you've reached their phone when you get their voice mail? I mean, I know it's their phone and not them directly, and I suppose they are being more precise (not to mention more accurate), because you really HAVEN'T reached them (that, of course, being the point of voice mail), but it's never occurred to me to tell someone they've reached my phone, not me.

Of course, it's highly possible that I'M the odd one here.....
