Here's my new rule for dating and marriage. Don't marry a guy named Peterson.
Why, you ask? Let's look at some famous Peterson husbands.
First, there's Michael Peterson, who was convicted of killing his wife several years ago. He's always claimed innocence, but recently his conviction was upheld by a higher court.
Then there was Scott Peterson, convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci. This Peterson also has always professed his innocence; he's in the midst of his appeal, but in the meantime California courts have decided that Laci's mother gets any insurance money
And, finally, there's Drew Peterson, a cop who is suspected of killing his wife, Stacy. Again, he declares he's innocent, and has even given interviews to get his side of the story out. Those same interviews are now being analyzed and dissected by various experts, and may wind up being used against him.
So, this is an alarming trend! I'm thinking we need to stop worrying about superficial things like a person's appearance, income, interests and political leanings, and start paying more attention to their last names!
(NOTE: I know a guy who's last name is Pedersen, who's a great husband, father, and all around good guy. So perhaps alternate spellings are OK....)
