A Trip to Old Salem

The 4th Graders at Peter's school went on a Field Trip to Old Salem today, and I got to chaperone! A quick disclaimer: having grown up in a small town in the mountains, we didn't have such great field trips, and I definitely live vicariously through my childrens' trips!

It was really a delightful day. The village was fun to walk around, and the group we had were well-behaved, polite, and curious. We saw the residence of the village doctor, the Boys' school (girls were schooled in the Single Sisters' Residence), the Single Brothers' Residence, the Tavern, a clockmakers/jewelry makers, a gun-shop and a shoe-shop. Plus, we had time for a trip to the gift shop! Though, I think the kids in my group mainly bought candy.....

Here are some of the highlight of the day:

Checking out the gift shop

The Tavern barn

In the apothecary's shop

Underneath the Boys' School

In the schoolroom

Just hangin' out

LUNCHTIME!!!!

What a nice looking kid!

In the cobbler's shop

Back at the Tavern

In the Gun Shop

Anyone need water?
