OUCH!!!!!

I had to have a Nerve Conduction Study done today. I've been having some pain, trembling and weakness in my right arm and fingers lately. I got really freaked out over Christmas when I was decorating the tree and dropped four or five ornaments because I couldn't grip them well, so I made an appointment with my doctor, hoping she'd say, "Oh, this is nothing." Sadly, she got freaked out as well, and sent me to a neurologist for the dreaded NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY!

So to do this, the nice neurologist attaches electrodes to you over certain muscles, then takes another electrode, positions it over a nerve, and zaps the nerve to see if it'll make your muscle jump. It didn't exactly hurt, but it wasn't pleasant, and each time he had to do it, it got less pleasant. It could definitely be a good method of torture, though: "Spill your guts, Sparky, or we'll give you a Nerve Conduction Study!" "No, not that! Anything but that!!!!!" Plus, I felt a little like the frog in a lab when the mad scientist probes his brain....

But, the good news is, while my results were on the low end of normal, they were within the normal ranges. He thinks that it's probably just a case of tendonitis, which may be irritating my nerves (would that be like getting on my last nerve?) which is causing the other symptoms. He'll send a report to my Primary Care doc, and we'll go from there.
